should db2 autostart on my linux?

Hi all,

i'm new to linux/unix so please forgive me if this is obvious.

I've been experimenting with db2 (9.5) on SLES 10 (sp3).

Everything installed ok and i ran first steps and could also see my instance from another command center on another machine (windows). everything looked ok.

But then i had to restart the box.... after which i could no longer connect to the instance or get command center to discover it.

The only way I can get it up and running after a boot is to logon as the dbusr and do a db2admin start, then log on as the instance user and do a db2start!

What do I have to do to get the thing to start up at boot time?

surely i don't have to write my own startup script do i?

sorry if this is obvious.

TIA

bg

thanks - i've tried that, but to no luck. After a restart - in command center if i right click on the instance (on the host the db2 instance is running on) and choose About from the menu. i get:

SQL103N no start manager command was issued. ......

If i do a db2set DB2AUTOSTART -i db2inst it returns YES. so i guess something must be going wrong in the boot - i'll check the console logs.

many thanks for the help.

I think there was a problem with some releases of Linux. Seems to work on RHEL 5.

if fmcd and fmc are started it should work.. just wait a moment after boot and see;; otherwise you did an incorrect setup
