If this is the Express-C version, you cannot apply a fixpack to it at all. If not, then when in doubt, choose the "universal" fixpack. It will always have everything you need.

If you read my first post thoroughly, you would have seen that I recommended that you use the "universal" fixpack.

Hi,

somebody can explain me when to apply fix pack to me db2 universal fix pack, db2 server fix pack, db2 connect personal edition, DB2 National Language Package, DB2 Query Patroller, DB2 Spatial Extender, IBM Data Server Client, IBM Data Server Runtime, Client, IBM Data Server Driver Package, IBM Data Server for Driver ODBC and CLI (32-bit), IBM Data Server for Driver JDBC and SQLJ, InfoSphere Federation Server Relational Wrappers or InfoSphere Federation Server Nonrelational Wrappers. And what is the difference among them.

Thanks for your help.
Greetings.

First you need to understand the different parts of DB2.

Server side
1) Core DB2 server
2) Spatial Extender
3) Query Patroller
4) National Language Package
5) Federation Server

On the server you can have any of 2 through 5 also installed with the Core DB2. Each one of these has its own fixpack as you have seen. But you can fix them all at the same time by using the "universal" fixpack as it has everything in it and fixes only what is installed. It beats have to do each component separately.

Client Side
A) Data Server Client - Has everything that can be run at the client
B) Data Server Runtime Client - Has just the minimum client install
C) Various driver packages

A and B are never installed on the same machine (A is B with more stuff), so they need to be fixed separately. The drivers are optional so those are done separately, probably because there are more clients to fix than servers and having a "universal" client would be too large to deploy to every client during an upgrade.
