To Use db2 v7 backup image on a db2 v9 sever

Hi everybody,

I'm going to "migrate" from db2 v7.2 to db2 v9.
But I wonder if it will be possible after, to reuse my old backup images (v7.2) on this new server (v9).
Indeed, I often need to use specific old backup images to run statistics for my customers.
I don't think of this problem before and I'm worried about it.
Please can you help me?

You cannot go directly from V7 to V9. You will have to go to V8 first.

I know this rule for using IBM migration tool but actually I used export/load commands in order to manage this upgrade directly and it's OK excepted maybe for my problem of restore.

If you are using backup images, IBM only supports going one level backward when restoring an image. You can only backup on V7 and restore on V7 or V8. You can only backup on V8 and restore on V8 or V9. All cross version backup restore operations HAVE to be offline backups.
