DB2 Upgrade from 8.2 to ?

Hello,

After experiencing tablespace issues for long time...we have now decided to upgrade the DB2 veriosn.
The current version is DB2 8.2 UDB O/S is Windows 2003 (32bit) and HADR has been set with standby node.

We have only one instence and One database.
The database size is 500GB.

Can someone suggest me that what is the best version to upgrade and what is the latest version is now available please?

Also, Is it better to go with 64 bit DB2 ?

Thanks.

The latest the greatest -> v9.7

If you don't feel comfortable migrating to the latest, then go with v9.5.

Yes, it is better to go with 64 bit. You have so much more memory to play with.

db2 32bit & 64bit

Thanks for your reply and need some more advise.

We will build the new DB server with 64bit OS & DB2. But our application servers have the 32 bit DB2 V8.2 client running.
If I upgrade the application servers with 32 bit DB2 9.5 client, will this work?

or Client and the server must be the same 64 bit ? Please advise.

Thanks,

If the application servers are different machines, then it does not matter. The bitness of the client has nothing to do with the bitness of the DB2 server.

If you go to 9.5 , worth reading up a bit about multi threaded - there are some differences in the way memory is managed by DB2 9.5
