I am assuming you are not using LPAR or virtualization. If you have 2 different instances on same server, then it would be OK, but both will be competing for the same memory, CPU, and I/O bandwidth (disk controllers). The memory issue is manageable if you config the instances and databases correctly to limit the amount of memory they use.
