Suggestions for a Database Overview Project

Hey folks,

In our company we are using several Database Software solutions
( DB2, Oracle, MS - SQL, MySQL, Sybase etc)

We have several customers and many machines where the databases are at.

Now i would like to create a UML with as much as possible informations about the Databases (e.g. Login, Hardware, Applications, several Informations)

I suppose to create a quite lare Visio file, but before I start, I would like to your input, Suggestions, ideas, and and and..

I am very thankful for each clue you give me.

Cheers,

DB_Noob

Here's a suggestion

I guess you are looking for something more complex than a spreadsheet ?

This Data Model on my Database Answers Web Site could easily be adapted to give you what you want :-
Inventory of IT Assets Data Model

Hello Barry,

Thanks for the reply.

I actually ment something like on the Screenshot. I want to show in Visio how applications access a database that are on server xy etc.

I would really appreciate a good looking example of something like this.

Cheers.

Hi
I have updated the Data Model to reflect your comments :-
CRUD - Create, Read, Update or DeleteData Model

At first I thought about CRUD but I don't believe that's what you want.
So I should change the name or add some CRUD details ;-0)

It seems like you want an Inventory - is that right ?
How will you use your Database ?

Barry
