Setup UserId's in DB2 Express-C v9.5

Okay, I installed DB2 Express-C v9.5 beta on my Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. I did not create the Instances on the Installation windows.

I tried running the db2icrt command from /opt/IBM/db2/V9.5/ like this:

MacBook-Pro:instance root# ./db2icrt -u db2fenc1 db2inst1
DBI1131E The user ID db2fenc1 is invalid.

Explanation:

An attempt to access the given user ID failed. One of the following
situations has occurred:
* This user ID does not exist on the system.
* The home directory of this user is not set up properly.
* One of the user attributes needed by DB2 is unset.
* The UID of this user is 0

User response:

Make sure a valid user ID with valid home directory, shell, primary
group and secondary group has been used. Create a new user if necessary.

DBI1079I Output is saved in the log file /tmp/db2icrt.log.36401.

Explanation:

All processed and failed operations have been saved into this log file.

User response:

Do not modify this file in any way. This file is for IBM Technical
Support reference.

My question is how do I create instances for the Unix command line for db2fenc1 and db2inst1 and dasusr1 or any others that I need? I've never done this on a Mac before. Could someone help me out?

Thanks.

You must create the instance owner id and the fenced user id before you create the instance. DB2 uses accounts and passwords controlled by the OS, not by DB2 itself.
