Restore recreates database directory ?

Hello,

Every db has it's "database directory" like SQL00001.
Restore database will recreate it if it was wiped out completely ?
(or I have to preserve it's contents separately(I have full backup already ))

thanks
Vilius

to clean the situation : drop the db and restore the db
sql00001 might be a different nbr if other db also exist
