DB2 ESE Upgrade from 8.2 to 9.7

Hello everyone,

I need to upgrade DB2 from version 8.2 to version 9.7 and I was wondering how I should approach this? I have very little experience with DB2 so if there's someone with a little patience who can help me, I would greatly a appreciate it.

I'm running the two instances of DB2 on AIX 5.3 (if that helps).

Thank you!

no need to repeat all : see the doc at
Upgrading a DB2 server (Linux and UNIX) - IBM DB2 9.7 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

if help needed: I can come over .. I wonder why all these jobs are done by people not knowing anything or very little of db2.. and if problem occurs ??

On a serious note, Guy is correct. You should get someone to upgrade.

since that is a hell of lot cheaper than hiring someone who knows how.
