DB2 Version 9.7 Fixpack 4 crashes 2-3 times a week

Hello Guys,

How you doing? Since a week more more we are experiencing problems on a productive system. The IBM Support mentioned that it could be because of to less RAM ... which we are going to upgrade soon.

Any other possibility is to find something within DB2, maybe a db or dbm parameter. Does anyone know something with "Sort Shared" which we have to limit a bit ...

I am thankful for each hint. Thanks in advance.

I was aware of few incidents where db2 instance got crashed after LOAD command is run on DB2 V9.7 ( aix) where customer recently upgraded to fixpack 4. Last status I was aware of was PMR was looking into the same whether it was related to FP 4.

there is always an entry for a crash - and different files in diagpath..

at least the db2star2 db2start should be seen
so the error is just before this start..

checkout for the FFDC information. It will surely exist either in the .nfy file, diag.log, or will create some trap file or coredumps. Once we have some bit of information from the ffdc, it will be easy to understand.

I will recommend you to open a PMR in such situation as 9.7 --FP4 is very recent there can be a possible bug which might not have been detected before the release.

There is should be something in the db2diag.log and/or some diagnostic info (ie. trap files..) dumped in the diagpath if db2 crashed. What is the OS? Check if there are any errors logged in the OS log. Anything related to db2sysc getting killed by the kernel?
