Instance cannot be updated or upgraded

Hi,

I have stopped all the db2 processes and when I try to upgrade the instance I get the error

DBI1122E Instance cannot be updated or upgraded.

I am upgrading from V9.1.4 to V9.7.3

Thanks in advance.

Check to see if there is a log file on /tmp directory (not sure where it is on Windows). There is also an upgrade check program you can run that will tell if there any potential problems with upgrading an instance.

The tmp filesays:

DBI1122E Instance dbacq01 cannot be updated or upgraded.

Explanation:

An attempt was made to either update or upgrade an instance. This
instance cannot be updated or upgraded because:

* One of the following commands cannot be used to either update or
upgrade this instance: db2iupdt, db2iupgrade, or db2nrupdt.
* The instance is still active.

User response:

Ensure that you are using the correct version of one of the following
commands: db2iupdt, db2iupgrade, or db2nrupdt. Also, ensure that there
are no DB2 processes running at the instance. Retry the command.

DBI1079I Output is saved in the log file /tmp/db2iupdt.log.31773.

Explanation:

All processed and failed operations have been saved into this log file.

User response:

Do not modify this file in any way. This file is for IBM Technical
Support reference.

You didn't say what command you issued.

You need to read the documentation on Upgrading to DB2 Version 9.7 on the InfoCenter website (make sure you are using the 9.7 infocenter. Also, I would use 9.7.4 since it is the latest.
