db2 version

hi,
Is there any method to get installed db2 version, bypassing the use of db2 commands. i.e. i dont want to use db2level,db2ls..etc.
Is there any file created during installation which will contain version information.?

there is the global.reg file in /var/db2 - but in internal format and can be handled by db2greg command
