I am trying to connect DB2 server database from XP machine with IBM data studio but I am getting error “No Start database command was issued. ErrorCode=-4499,SQLState=08001”.
Please correct me where I am doing mistaken I am able to connect and access database from putty software but I want to connect server database through IBM Data studio.

Server and Client machine details as given below and add database screen shot is attached-

Database Server- AIX
Database: DB2 9.5

Client OS: Windows XP
Database on Client XP: DB2 Express Edition C 9.7
Management Studio on Client: IBM Data Studio stand-alone 2.2

no start means : db2start is needed at the server to start the instance..

Instance already running and I am able to connect that instance through putty software but this error i am getting when i am trying to connect DB2 through IBM data studio.

verify the connection string defined for this db
connect to instance = nok
attach to instance or connect to database
if type/2 connection used - try todo a connect in db2 command line
publish node directory - db directory - svcename/port of instance
db2set -all at server

For using the DB2 Data Studio on client machine license required or it is free.

The Data Studio is free. The Optim Tools require depend on server side licenses.
The Optim Tools are at the bottom of the listing: Compare the distributed DB2 9.7 database servers

Check you port number is correct ot not?
