How OS group-ing effects.

Hey All,

I am just wondering how it will affect me if my groups order is different than db2inst1.

I mean following are the groups in order ; I cannot find db2_env at default location :

Code:
db2inst1 : fasgprwp staff dasadm1
dbfinder : staff dasadm1 fasgprwp
Should it matter ?

As told by security department (aix) documentation, I should be able to load db2 env script and find my way through different instances.

Any Idea ??

Regards

what is db2_env ?

No, order of groups does not matter.

Of course, your groups should have sufficient access to perform your tasks.
Being in the same groups as db2inst1 does not help.

Well, at current workplace they have created profile loader scripts as :

Code:
oracle_env
db2_env
informix_env
This is due to the fact that they have sharepoint document showing the way to your dbms profile.

That means, may be some one might have moved the file, OR, I think they can revoke my access to that particular file.

BTW, I heard primary group term some times. Not being system expert, I guessed maybe, the primary group is more powerful than other groups.

Thanks
