Re: Basic DB2 commands

Command Reference is my bible for commands ...

db2 ? <command>

gives you the syntax on the command line
Eg:

db2 ? restore

some useful db2 commands as a dba

I use the following quite a bit as a DB2 DBA:

list database and database manager parameters:
==================================
db2 get db cfg for database
db2 get dbm cfg

list applications running on system:
============================
db2 list applications

show tablespaces
============================
db2 list tablespaces

cat /home/db2inst/sqllib/db2dump/db2diag.log
shows error log output for db2

db2 list history
quite useful

db2cc starts the control center tool

this should get you started
I recommend the DB2 manuals or any of the good DB2 DBA books

You may want to go through the v7-dbacert.pdf on the http://redbooks.ibm.com.

This is a PDF for getting dba certification on UDB for version 7. I am suggesting this book b'cos it considers you are new to UDB and teaches you from ground up.
