Unhappy whether DB2 runtime-client V8.x can talk to DB2 UDB V7.x?

From the Release Notes :-

"To access a DB2 UDB Version 7 server on a Linux, UNIX, or Windows
operating system from a Version 8 client, you must have Version 7 FixPak 8 or later installed on your server and have run the db2updv7 command."


But I do remember there is no support available for:
data types like LOBs , security things such as passwords change etc
communication protocols, including ATTACHING instance ..

I had issues when my client is v8 when the server is on V7.
Most of the client utilities does not function very well.
CCA will create lots of problems.

v8 client to v7 server

There are several restriction to use v8 client against v7 server.

Please read "Back-level DB2 Universal Database server support"
in the following release note:
