update causes deadlock in db2 for AS400

Hi

The following logic in a stored procedure causes a deadlock in db2 on AS400...

1. Doing a select of 3 columns that returns 1 record, based on a condition.
2. Update another table with the values got in step 1, based on the same condition. This seems to cause a deadlock!

Any ideas?
