What are db2imdbd.dmp and db2imnod.dmp files

I've upgraded to DB2 8.1 fixpak 3 on AIX V5.1 from DB2 7.2 and have noticed that
there are two files in the .../sqllib/db2dump directory which weren't
present uder prior releases. They being db2imdbd.dmp and db2imnod.dmp. Does anyone know what these are for ? Are they documented anywhere ?
There is a third file instance name .ntfy which in is text file and I can see its contents though I don't need it.
