I'm designing a database and one of the columns we have is essentially a bitmap.

To say that I'm new to the world of bit arithmetic is a grave understatement!!! Some time ago I was on dbforums.com and came across a thread that was essentially a beginners guide to bit arithmetic. For the life of me, I can't seem to find it again!!!!

If anyone has any idea or could provide me with a link, it would be really appreciated. Or if anyone has any other sources you may know of that could give me a brief introduction to bit math that would be cool, too.
