Tuning Performance of DB2 V8 + fp2

Hi all,

I installed one DB2 server V8 & fp2 on AIX 5.1.3 server with 1 GB memory.

After that, my team member restored data into instance, db2inst1.

It looked okay.

However, I continued to migrate DB2 client to V8 & fp2 also on another server with AIX 5.1.3.

And then tried to connect from DB2 client to server, some problem happened.

It took so long, actually no response at all. Even I typed command, "db2 connect to" locally on that DB2 server.
It still didn't work.

I also tried to use this DB2 client server to connect the other DB2 server with DB2 V8 & fp2 on AIX 5.1.3.
It worked.

Anybody can figure it out ?

So appreciated!! & Marry Christmas !!

Sophie

Hi,

Are you having the performance problem or you don't get any response at all. If error then please post the error message.

There is also fp4 available for db2 v8.1. You can also try to install this fixpack.

Thanks,
Grofaty

Hi,

I didn't get any response at all. The command, "db2 connect to xxx" seemed endless.

Thanks again!!

Hi Sophie,

did you try to do a migration to version 8? Did the migration actually succeed?

What about messages in db2diag.log?

I remember having seen problems like this during migration from version 5 to version 7 in a partitioned environment. At that time, db2 tried a migrate database from each node or something. The result was a huge mess.
