I am curious to see what type of IPL schedule other AS400 admins adhere to. I recently had IBM support recommend an IPL approximately every week. I have found that performance on an AS400 improves after several days to a week of operations. I assume this is because the statistics manager in V5R2 is collecting useful statistics for query optimization. On the other hand, statistics and access plans become outdated and IPL's initiate the rebuilding of access plans (paths) and resetting of statistics. Accordingly, I IPL about once a month.

I would love to hear other admins' oppinions on the matter... Is there a chance I am IPL'ing too often or not enough?
