Post Problems with Access interpreting a BIGINT field in a DB2 V8.1.1 table

I'm having problems with MS Access interpreting a BIGINT field in a DB2 V8.1.1 table. When I link the table in Access 97 or 2000, Access interprets it as a Text field. As a result, I can't run a query against the field. I'm getting the message "data types of the operands for the operation "=" are not compatible". I've received the same results whether it is run in Windows NT or 2000. Is there is a workaround for Access to be able query on BIGINT fields? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
