Mqt - Incremental Refresh

Hello,
I am currently investigating the different options with MQT's on version 8.
I am now looking at incremental refreshes with refresh immediate and refresh deferred (with staging table) MQT's.
I have found that when loading data in to a base table with the refresh deferred MQT i must insert the data rather than use a load from Cursor to get the data to be propogated into the staging table.
Can some one please confirm that i can't do a load from Cursor.
I am loading in the region of 3 million rows so inserting is slow!
If this is the case, is it also the case for Refresh immediate MQTS.

All thoughts welcome
Clive
