Partitioning Tablespace in OS390

Hi ,
As my TS(with one table) size is growing rapidly,there is a need to partition it. How shall I proceed for the same ?

I feel we need to create a new TS(same characteristics) with the partitions in the same DB. and later load the data from the original TS.

Could you tell me if it fine or any other options is there?
