thanks for the quick reply. i think i'm not clear in my previous mail. I found a datatype named 'time' which allows to store the time in 'hh:mm:ss' format. I am using DB2 UDB 8.1. I like to know the equivalent to this in the MSSQL server 2000, since i want to do the migration.
