unicode to non-unicode

Hi,

we have recently converted our db to unicode.. we have users coming from as/400 which cannot connect to the unicode because of the level they are at..

has anyone attempted to create a korean/chinese etc.. db and create federated links to the unicode db ?? and was the data ok.. ??
