Using XML translation with DB2

We using DB2 version 7.1 on ZOS.
One of our new process requires to store/retrieve data to/from DB2 by using XML format.
Did anyone use DB2 XML Extender on ZOS?
How easy it is?
Are there any other tools that allow to perfrorm the above processes?
Any suggestions?
