DB2 & Java

Hello all.

has anyone ever tried to describe a table using Java for a DB2 database. (Works really well for Oracle)

Have tried just about everything from

DESCRIBE tableName; (Oracle)
DESCRIBE SELECT * FROM userName.tableName;

Is there an easy way to do this ?

thanks again all .. any help would be appreciated.

That's because 'DESCRIBE' is not a SQL statement - it's a CLP command. You can only issue SQL statements with JDBC, such as this one:
Code:

select
   colname, typeschema, typename, length, scale, nulls
from
   syscat.columns
where
   tabname='TABLENAME' and tabschema='USERNAME'
