Question SQL - Date problem with Paradox

Hello, I hope you canhelp because i'm going nuts.

If I run the following SQL statement I'm getting an invalid keyword: = error.

SELECT * FROM SYNS WHERE SynDate = #01/01/06#

I don't know where I'm going wrong ... i've tried using ' instead of # and using - instead of / but I just get different errors.
I'm using Borland Builder with Paradox tables.

Have I done something dumb? *awaits a chorus of YES!*
