crystal report 8.0 connection with oracle 8i personal edition database using visual b

I am developing an application using visual basic as front-end and oracle 8i personal edition at backend.
when i am running the application crystal report is giving the error "server has not yet been opened".
I am getting the connection in the crystal report 8 designer.I am able to view the preview containing the records in the designer.
