Hello Peoples!

I want to use Filemaker (Pro 7) to get E-Mails from my POP3-Account. Is that possible in any way without plugins?
I searched the web and other forums, but i didn't find any result

I know how to send E-Mails. But how to get them

There is no way (yet) to retrieve email within FileMaker without a plug-in of which I am aware. FileMaker does not have the means to make the calls to an SMTP gateway or server to accomplish the task. Even the send mail script, relies on the engine built in to your default email client.

There are several plug-in methodologies however to chose from.

Plugins that handle SMTP and POP:

Is it possible to connect Ports with Filemaker? If yes, i could try to connect Port 110, create a socket to this Port and than i could try to use the POP3 Commands to get my e-mails...
I really hope so, but for a real programmer is fm a really crappy/nasty thing... (sorry filemaker fans ^^)

What I meant by "Yes, you read that right", was in reference to the name of the company that produces Mondo Mail. "ACME" is the fictitous company in many Warner Brother's cartoons as well as in many TV shows where they want to reference a company that does not exist.

As for FileMaker connecting to the mail ports. I am not certain. FileMaker has its own dedicated port that you can open to allow communication between FileMaker clients on separate subnets. Port 591. It stands to reason that this may be the only port which FM connects to, but I am not certain of that.

FileMaker is a very descent application. It is used in almost every major corporation in some form. Oracle uses it for their work group operations. United Airlines uses it for their maintenance records. The agencies involved in cataloging the personal affects after the Septemeber 11 attack on the World Trade Center used it.

Like all applications, it has its strengths and its weaknesses.
