Upgrading from V5.5 for a Mac to v11

I had someone build a very complicated db for me for my business and it has been working great. Over the years I realized that at some point I'd have to upgrade it to more of a current version. I was told by an Apple employee that I'd have to upgrade it gradually as its v5.5. It seemed too daunting for me to do and I cant find the person that built it to help me out so I just kept it in v5.5.
I recently upgraded to Lion OX and now my OS doesn't support Power PC apps any more. Any suggestions ?
Thanks
