im running Filemaker Pro v5

it talks all about connecting to an SQL database through ODBC, but it requres the remote data access companion plugin.. and I only have the Web Companion plugin in.

where can I get the remote data access companion??

Dragon, I believe that you need to purchase a copy of the server software for filemaker. On that disk is an installer for the remote data access companion.

If you are not using Filemaker with FileMaker server, then you only need the 'local data access companion' which is included in the normal install of Filemaker. Make sure the plug-in is enabled in Preferences>Application>Plug-ins.
