CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, OCTOBER 28TH, 2002. Datavations LLC announced today the commencement of the worldwide FMComponent Developer Network (FMCDN™;
www.FMCDN™.com and
www.FMCDN™.org) to support developers using the long awaited FMConnector™ to seamlessly integrate FileMaker Pro® solutions with Windows® applications.
FMCDN™ members consist of Windows® developers and FileMaker Pro® end-users who are interested in developing, or using, FMComponents™ that seamlessly connect Windows® applications to FileMaker Pro®. FMCDN™ members receive access to an extensive Extranet offering help files and FAQ’s, downloadable software, samples, standards and development tools, bulletin board access, sales and developer training, and commercial product sales and marketing support.

The FMConnector™ is a Visual Basic (
VB) component that is being marketed through a joint venture between Datavations (N.America), STB Research bv.(Europe) and Switched-On-Knowledge (Asia Pacific). This add-in allows a Windows® developer using
VB or ASP to seamlessly integrate an external Windows® application with FileMaker Pro®. This can be an external application that enhances any FileMaker Pro® solution, such as FMComponents™, or it can be used as a bridge to link to other applications that expose their Application Programmable Interface’s (APIs), such as SalesLogix®, Microsoft Office®, QuickBooks®, and thousands of other Windows® applications. The FMConnector™ offers the Windows® developer a tremendous amount of functionality and control over any FileMaker Pro® application, and includes a complete Object model with extensive Methods and Properties.
An FMComponent™ is any Windows® application that seamlessly connects to any FileMaker Pro® solution using the FMConnector™. The possibilities for FMComponents™ are limited only by the available commercial components and the developer’s imagination (look here to see what's available:
