I have asked this before in another forum, just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what would happen? Thinking about how I might restore one database from a level 0 containing two databases, avoiding over laying the one I dont want to restore by repointing all of its links to /dev/null? This sounds crazy I know, just wondering what you guys think!

Don't think Informix will let you do that, I tried doing a restore with a link pointing to the rootdbspace in another location and it would not let me do it.

you can dbexport the database that you want, restore the whole system and then dbimport the database back
