DB User

Hi Guys, Sorry to bother you all much,am new to this Informix,so can expect me many more times.

I would like to know about informix users, I am from an oracle world, there we could create seperate database users, not os related. Is this possible in informix.I never found and syntax for this.

I also was wondering is there only DBACCESS as the only tool to query the database.

Thanks and regards

Micky

Hi,

Informix uses only os users, we can't create any users. Yes DBACCESS is one of the tool to query the database. There are other tools like ISQL which can be used too query the database but that does not come bundled with IDS you need to buy it seperately. Also you have many 3rd party tools.

Regards,

lloyd

Courses

Micky,

A real jumpstart for you would be to follow the following courses :

IBM Informix Advanced SQL
IBM Informix Managing and Optimizing Informix databases
IIBM Informix System Administration

There is even a special course intended for Oracle DBA's who want to learn Informix.

But I don't see any of those scheduled in your neighborhood.

plz contact your IBM sales representative.

I could give you the course if they don't give you a solution. But flying over from Belgium would make this very expensive.

Best regards

Koen
