I ran oncheck -cD to verify the data pages but it came back without any error, my next step is to run oncheck -cI to verify indexes but I have to wait until tonight since this is the production server.

Meanwhile I'm trying to research to see if I can come up with a quick solution to the problem, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Esto es un bug de la versión de Informix.
Me ha pasado lo mismo y he tenido que migrar a la versión siguiente.

Gracias por tu respuesta, he tenido muchisimos problemas con esta version de informix, empece a trabajar hace poco tiempo en esta empresa y el sistema se esta migrando a Oracle por lo que desafortunadamente no puedo migrar a otra version, tengo que mantenerlo hasta el final de anio. He estado haciendo el backup por algun tiempo y no me habia dado problemas, el fin de semana voy a hacer un bounce a Informix para ver si de casualidad eso ayuda.

Just a quick update for anyone interested. The problem is a documented bug for that version of informix. I found a "work around" to it, the bug only appears if the backup is run with the engine in quiescent mode, but it works perfectly ok with the engine in online mode.
