Logical Logs

I am fairly new to Informix and was looking for someone who could shed some light on logical logs. When I perform a onstat -l this is the output:

Why are the logical logs which are full and backed-up are not being released?

Thanks

Why do you not think they are being released? B means backed up and available for re-use. If they were not being released the engine would halt activity once the current logical log (C) reached 100% and it couldn't roll over to the next one

It's just one of those cunning little ploys of informix's to confuse us (I get confused enough on my own, I don't need the help)

The reason I feel they are not being reused is becuase logical log 15 fills to 100% and then goes back down to 0%. Non of the other logical logs are being used.

Informix only shows logincal log as free for a splitt second. That is normal. If you dont think that it using any other logs force it to the next one by executing
onmode -l

Quite right! Also, ensure logging is turned on for your database. Try the command 'ondblog unbuf/buf log dbname' followed by a full system archive to get you going

What exactly would this accomplish? This is our production box and would want to affect anything. Today all the logical logs are filled except 17 now.

Thanks

they are backed up, informix only shows a log as free for a split second.
if log 17 fills up it will move on to the next one
