ontape backup failure

I’m using ontape utility to back up Informix database. Ontape –s –L 0.
From time to time, even though I reboot the server I get the following message
... Archive failed - buc_fe.c : Archive API processing failed at line 241 for msgtype

Program over.

Any ideas how I can fix this problem?

What version of informix are you using? I remember seeing posts about this. I thint this is a bug in Informix. Research on the net or contact Informix

I am using informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.UC2
I didn't find any information about it on the net. The only matter close to it was a bug with onbar utility.

Hi,

Please check parameter TAPEDEV, TAPEBLK and TAPESIZE.
Check block factor on tape unit and review permissions on /dev/device-name.

Gustavo.
