I have configured a tape device for informix database backup and the script is also ready, but the problem here is:
the size of the database is too high, even that will not fit into single tape.
is there any compress option in ontape command to take backup in compress mode. please suggest me something for backup. if compress option is there,
give the command option like this.

$ ontape -b -w -L 0

Hi,

if you are using Informix Storage Manager the you can set the environment variable ISM_COMPRESSION=TRUE
