Hi,

As per my understanding, if there is environment change, your ontape backup cannt be restored.

Hi,

I suggest that two things.

One, if is posible run dbexport , then install new version on diferent file system, mount this, then initialize the instance and run dbimport.
Two, run ontape in Quescent mode, down engine, next install new version, next run oninit.

Gustavo.

Gustavo,

Your second view would be applicable in case he is upgrading the informix version on the same box.But he is trying to restore ontape backup on a completely different unix box (different os version).

Bye

Nitin
