I've an Informix Dynamic Server 7 running on an old HP-UX 10x. All the programs that manipulate the data are written in 4gl and run locally.

Is there a way to install the IDS in other unix flavors, leaving the programs on the old server but adjusting them so they be able to connect with the new installed IDS?

You should be able to do that through sqlhosts....

I beleive there is a section on this in the Administrators Guide under the replication section which talks about the difference methods of redirection.
