We have installed IDS 7.3 on AIX. Upon trying to create database we get the error 908 - Attempt to connect to database server <xxxxx> failed.

Please suggest what could have gone wrong.

Some observations
- We could not see sqlexecd under informix directory.
- It looks like the informix daemon is not started. How to start/see the status of daemon.

Please test for environment variables: INFORMIXDIR, INFORMIXSERVER, ONCONFIG and INFORMIXSQLHOSTS.
Check define of $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file.
