Hi ,

I want to move informix data from old server to new server using ontape commands.
I have tape drive on new server which is compatable with old server.

My plan is to :
1)backup using ontape -s to tape drive on new server from old server
2)restore using ontape -r from new server

Can i get some advice on running ontape -s to tape drive in different server ?

You need to set TAPEDEV in onconfig file to:
TAPEDEV <remote m/c>:<tape device path>

I have successfully taken ontape backup on tape drive of different server by changing onconfig file.
