2 days ago our tape backup failed, so we set on the Tape-Parameters (onmonitor) the Log Tape Device option to /dev/null.
But when we ran the "ontape -c" command, this messages was display

Performing continuous backup of logical logs.
Logbackup failed - Log backup to device '/dev/null' not allowed

Program over.

We did:
1) Shutdown informix engine
2) Shutdown server
But the problem still.

We need some help to know what is wrong and fix.

does the user "informix" has still access to the file "/dev/null" ?
and the owner of the process "ontape" and "init" is it "informix" ?

Thanks for your responce. But the problem was resolved. We change the /dev/null to filename and we executed the ontape command, after that we changed the tape parameter to /dev/null and it was work.
