Hi,
I am a real Beginner, I have used Oracle, MySql but not Informix
so my question are
1) How do you Login , Oracle it is simple it wil lask you username - tiger
and password - scott
2) is there any site which will be a step by step guide how to use informix 10.5 because though i looked up IBM is doesnt give a tutorial for out and out total beginner

I remember me when I was a beginner Informix DBA I didn’t know how I can shutdown Informix. Thanks IBM for it. But today you can to find some IBM resources about IDS. I will speak about it in point 2.
1.You asked - How do you Login
You should login in operating system as user Informix with necessary password (default password informix). And you will get all privileges, for example, as root in UNIX.
2. You speak about Informix 10.5. As I know this is Informix 11.1 or 11.5. Please do “onstat –“ and post output here.
For IDS 11.1 you can find Infocenter 11.1.
For IDS 11.5 you can find Infocenter 11.5.

I did do onstat and it says it is version 11.5
But i am not a DBA and neither a Database guy i am a programmer have to deal with informix my problem is i dont know how to use it
1) can u please guide me step by step as how to login.
how i go is AllProgram--->IBM informix client sdk 3.5-->ILogonDemo-->
and the ILoginDemo will pop up a with tab file and Help,
File--> run--> this ask me a couple of questions like server name, host, protocol whick i do put in but doesnt work shows me one orthe other error am i going right is this how it works

i have informix on widow xo when i installed it, it created a informix user just in case if it helps on typing onstat this is what it gave
