Does it work: RSS Node on a different OS than the primary?

Hello all,

i have one question: Is it possible to set up a RSS Node on different Operating System than the primary. For example: the primary is running on RedHat 5.1 and RSS Node runs on on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS ?
