Informix to Sql server 2008 migration

Hello Experts,

I'm try to migrate data from Informix to Sql server 2008. Are there any tools which would help me script out the tables/views etc. I use server studio to generate the table creation/views scripts for me. I need to convert these scripts to as format that sql server understand. i have close to 400 + tables/views to migrate.

Also, I did try to manually create a table after reading the document available online. I have been having problems with the scripts below.

**alter table caa**** add constraint primary key
(coa01, coa72)
constraint u753_3106;
How do create this constraint in sql server.

** create table caa**** (
startdatetime DATETIME YEAR TO FRACTION(4) default CURRENT YEAR TO FRACTION(4));
What is the Sql server equivalent of the above scripts. Please advise.

Thanks
Leo

Hi,

they is a very good RedBook to migrate from SQL Server to Informix. I think that SQL Server is such a good and popular product, and tons of books should have been written about this subject.

You'd better try to get info in the Sql Server Forum

You will discover soon all the "advantages and joys" of downgrading to SQL Server :-)

Sorry for being sarchastic, but I still do not understand why some decision makers persist on losing all the advantages of Informix ( stability, performance with equivalent system capacity, robustness, low total cost of ownership...), for more expensive systems, less stability and availability, less performance and higher TCO.

Would this system be eligible for the free Edition Informix Innovator-C instead of spending money, time and reliability on such a migration ?
E.
