Slow connection

Hi,

I'm workink in a full win-2000 SP2 environment, whith a 9.21 TC5 Informix server
I got a slow connection problem between the clients and the server, (which seems to occured suddenly) ; this is always the same delay, about 17 seconds to connect to a database

I checked my DNS/WINS configuration, everything is ok. I can ping server and clients
I found one "solution" to resolve it : write the name/IP of the clients in the hosts files of the server (this could be useful to anybody who'd meet the same problem)
I'm not satisfied whith this solution, because the use of DHCP is not possible.
Has anybody seen this ???

Thanks !

As you say , the slowness is not caused by Informix.Your win2k tries to find out the name of your client before the connection is established.Recgeck your wins configurations on both sides...

The Informix Server needs an hosts.equiv file in %WINNT%/system32 where you must 'trust' the clients.
This is an inheritence from the unix world.
