Renaming an instance

Is it possible to rename an instance ( that is rename DBSERVERNAME in ONCONFIG file)?

yes, the easiest way is to set another dbserveralias and add a line to the sqlhosts file. In that case the two names apply.

1. stop you database server
2. rename or add name in ONCONFIG file (DBSERVERALIASES)
3. rename or add corresponding name in sqlhosts file
4. start database server
